Nica x Light/Raito

"Ryuuk," Light demanded, sternly, "save some for tomorrow. You don't honestly need so much in one day."
"But Light!" Ryuuk whined. "You've been depriving me ALL DAY!! Can't I just get a little bit more? You know, as a personal treat and all?"
"What have you done to deserve a personal treat?"
"Augh... LIGHT!!"

Light didn't feel nervous at all. He pointed to the cell phone he had so carelessly placed on the kitchen counter-top. "A friend from school called, is all," he lied. "Why, was I disturbing you?"

Light forced a smile. He tried not to ball up his fist and twitch at the eye. "Here's your water," he said, holding out a clear-liquid filled glass. He thought a moment, and then took it back. "Oh, sorry... Ice or no ice?"

Light handed her back the ice-less water serving. "Well, no... I'm not leaving it there," he said, grapping it quickly and stuffing it into his jeans pocket. He was going to use it in case Ryuuk said something that he just HAD to respond to.

Light blinked at her slight chill. "You alright?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Are you cold or something?"

Playing innocent was difficult sometimes.

Light raised an eyebrow. "You sure are odd," he told her. "Is there any more tutoring you need?"

"Logarithms, huh? Sure, I can help you with that." There was a slight tension in his voice that he failed to hide. "Come on." He took a step onto the first stair and leaned against the wall slightly, motioning for her to continue.

Nica noticed that slight tension, and caused her to frown. She hesitated before following him, now feeling bad. He probably was annoyed with her. "Nyuu..." she muttered, glancing at Light. "Sorry, Light-san," she said, staring at the ground.

Light looked back at her from over his shoulder, distracting her from the removal of the piece of led lodged between the door and the wall with a smile. "What do you mean, sorry?" He asked, forcing that cheerful tone back. "You didn't do anything wrong."

Light's fingers twitched slightly as he entered his bedroom. "I don't know what you mean, Miss Nica," he insisted. "You're being silly." Of course he was mad at her. Well, not mad. Just irritated. He should've been using this time to write down names in the Death Note, and yet here he was. Distracted. Helping a ditzy female classmate with her lithiograms.

Light practically fell on to his bed with a loud sigh. He only smiled up at her and pointed at her glass. "Use a coaster please," he instructed. He hated it when there were water stains all over his nice desks, and this one was brand new. "And please don't spill it, unless you're planning on replacing my PC."

Light raised his eyebrows. "It's not that I think you'll spill it," he explained. "Even with a coaster you could still spill that. It's just that the water condesates on the outside of the glass and makes a wet water ring on the surface upon which it sits. Which usually goes un-noticed and leads to obnoxious water marks." He shrugged. "I'm aloud to be a neat freak sometimes."

Nica felt her eye twitch as he explained. "Wow, just wow." was all she managed to get out. She didn't think anybody even cared about that nowadays. "You can be really weird sometimes. I didn't think anybody even noticed things like that anymore. Then again, you aren't normal either..." she said, not meaning to say that last part out loud (even if it was true). Of course, it wasn't like she didn't pay attention to detail. When it came to things that weren't academic, she could remember many, many useless things. This was one of her bad habits she had developed from something in the past.

"What? Is it so bad that I can't stand the sight of the paint on my $300 desk peel?" Light was sort of suprised by his tone. He'd never known himself to care about it before. It was really just an excuse to say something, but now that he though about it, repainting a desk like that wouldn't be very cheap if he added a finish and polish like intended with most desk repairs. He bit his lip, knowing that he was currently unemployed and was barely paying for his college books even with his full-time university scholarship. Sadly, $300 was a lot of money for somebody in the middle of a college year. Maybe he could write down the director of the school board's name...
